Do's and don't when looking for a job in Irish Archaeology
About
We set up Unite, The Archaeological Branch because we think archaeologists are currently being exploited and both wages and conditions do not reflect our qualifications or experience. We want to be both viewed as professionals and to have pay and conditions that reflect our skills and experience. We are tired of waiting and want to change things ourselves
Campaign
We are campaigning for a Registered Employment Agreement for Archaeologists in the commercial sector in Ireland. This would mean that the current grades of fieldworkers and an agreed set of rates would be enforceable in law. OUR CURRENT RATES ARE THOSE RECOMMENDED BY THE INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGISTS OF IRELAND IN 2014
Wage Tracker
UNITE archaeology carries out 6 monthly wage surveys to track the current picture. Check out our 2014 tracker results here
What facilties should I have on site?
You would be suprised at what the 2013 Construction Health and Safety legislation insists should be on your site - if they are not contact your project manager, UNITE Rep and/or the Health and Safety Authority
Get Involved
We need and value every member we can get. Join us online today. As well as being part of the campaign membership offers legal support, professional advice and other benefits. There are reduced rates for students and unemployed so theres no excuse.
